brake servicesThere’s a lot of focus on keeping your car running, going, and driving. However, being able to stop when you need it most is going to be just as important to you, your vehicle, and your family. Regular brake service will give you peace of mind and safety even in the most challenging of situations and road conditions.

In the large majority of vehicles on the road today, braking systems are hydraulic brakes. When pressing on the brake pedal, the hydraulic boost applies pressure to the brake pads, which then press against the wheel or axle, using friction to slow the speed of the wheels and the vehicle. Drum brakes are one popular configuration where the brake pads are on the inside of the wheel and press outwards against the wheel to generate friction. Disc brakes use a set of calipers to press the brake pads against the sides of the wheel. Wear on the pads causes brakes to be less effective over time, and regular brake servicing is essential to their good function.

No matter what type of brakes you might be driving with, make sure your driving habits don’t wear too heavily on your vehicle. Aggressive driving often includes frequent heavy braking, which wears out all components faster and costs you money on replacement parts and more frequent brake service appointments.

At Scotty Muffler & Auto Repair, we’re dedicated to keeping your vehicle in the best condition in order to keep you and your family safe and on the road for as long as you need. We’re a second-generation family business and have been on the job for you, your family, and your vehicle for 35 years. Let us help you with brake service today!
